The fiber has curl memory and baked-in color so, unlike human hair, it will keep the curl and color indefinitely when properly handled. The process for making this amazingly lifelike fiber is, in itself amazing, Kanekalon is a modacrylic fibre made of two monomers, acrylonitrile and vinyl chloride, joined through a process called co-polymerization. Co-polymerization produces a dry resin which is then dissolved into a liquid called dope. This solution is forced through a multi-hole metal disc called an aspinnerette.
