A Hair salon which has been cutting it for 60 years has closed for the final time in Burnley Wood.
Hazel For Hair, which has seen many incarnations as a ladies' hairdressers at its home in Branch Road, will soon be demolished under Burnley Council's regeneration scheme.
The last resident hairdresser, Hazel Duxbury, looked back with fondness on her place of work for the last 28 years.
"It will be sad to see the hair salon demolished but it was the only property left open on that block and is due for demolition.
"I've worked there for nearly 30 years and in that time I've made many good friends from my customers. When I started the hair salon was called Paula's and run by a lady called Paula Riley.
"I bought it 15 years ago and renamed it, but I believe it's been a hair salon for 60 years. Some of my customers have been coming here since it opened. I think the original owner was a lady called Rhoda Cooper," she said.
Burnley Council made a compulsory purchase order on the property which has now been boarded up, while Hazel (43) has been busy looking for new work.
"I am going to start as a mobile hairdresser, hopefully for lots of my old clients, and I've found another job doing hair at an old people's home.
"I shall miss the old shop though. It's the end of an era."
